History

Starting life in 1909 as the Imperial Hotel, The Bolt Inn has been a cornerstone of Uralla’s history for over a century. Located in the heart of Uralla at the junction of the New England Highway and Thunderbolt’s Way, this grand Victorian-style pub was renamed in 1970 to honour Captain Thunderbolt, the gentleman bushranger who once roamed the region. In 2022, under new ownership, the pub underwent extensive renovations and embraced its new name, The Bolt Inn, while preserving the charm and character that has made it a local icon.​

Welcome to The Bolt Inn — a family pub lovingly restored by us, local owners Pete and Sal Strelitz, along with our incredible team of staff, tradies, chefs, and everyone else who helped bring this beautiful place back to life. After purchasing the pub in 2022, our vision was to create a welcoming space for locals to gather, enjoy great food and drinks, and celebrate the charm of Uralla.

At The Bolt Inn, we celebrate local flavours and serve our community with every meal. That commitment has now been recognised twice — named Best Restaurant and Best Pub in the New England, 2025 — all before we’ve even marked our first birthday.

With years of experience working with chefs and supplying premium meat through Milly Hill Meat, we’re passionate about bringing top-quality, locally sourced ingredients to the table. Our dishes reflect the best of the region and offer a true taste of country hospitality.
